It’s Monday…What Are You Reading?

speculation    palmerino     the son

Shannon from Rivercity Reading definitely influenced my book choices this week!  Because of her stand-out review, I started and finished Dept. of Speculation the  moment it hit my doorstep last week. Then, because I saw on Goodreads that she was reading Palmerino, I took my review copy (which has been languishing on my shelf since BEA) down and began it. Finally, I have about 50 pages left of Philipp Meyer’s The Son, which she went as far as to call a potential American classic. I don’t think I liked these books as much as she did, but I’m happy to finally have gotten to them, especially The Son, which is a Tournament of Books contender.

Up next I’ll either start The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri, another 2013 book that I missed (and also in the running at the TOB) or Winter’s Tale, which is coming to theaters on Valentine’s Day and will knock a book off both my Chunkster Challenge and TBR Pile Challenge. Soon, too, I’m going to read The Rosie Project for Words for Worms Fellowship of the Worms book club on February 11th. It’s cold outside, but at least I have my books to keep my company!

What are you reading this week??

  1. Wow! You really do a River City Reading tour, huh? :) You’re flying through The Son, too! I’m trying to get through some of the ToB that I didn’t get to, so I’m going to try to pick up Americanah and A Tale for the Time Being over the next few weeks.

    • Americanah isn’t part of it, though.
I don’t know if I’m flying through it – it’s a much slower read because the material is so difficult in nature. But I’m almost through it!
